About
JD DuBois currently works in the NBA as an Assistant Coach for the Detroit Pistons. He is responsible for the Player Development program and works mostly with players who are in their first four years in the NBA. He helps create all of their on court development. Before working with the Detroit Pistons, DuBois worked for the Toronto Raptors’ Player Development department, under Dwane Casey.
JD graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and began his Master’s degree in Communication at the University of Utah. He played Division 1 basketball for both schools. After graduating, DuBois played professional basketball in Europe for 3 years in Germany, Russia and Cyprus.
Outside of basketball, JD has been active in the community by starting a nonprofit organization in 2016 called, “Everyone Has a Story”, to promote compassion for others one story at a time. JD hosts annual events to “Spread Love” including the Lunch Bag Project, where nearly 2,000 lunch bags were distributed to the homeless. During this event, guests were asked to donate any new or lightly used winter clothing. With terrible winters in Salt Lake City, the focus was doing our best to help those in need to stay warm. JD has also put together a Spread Love Winter Event, where volunteers donated items such as socks, gloves and winter clothes to be distributed to those in need. He also provided a Salt Lake City women’s shelter with feminine hygiene items that were donated during the Spread Love Valentine’s Day event. At this event each guest made personalized cards for the women with words of encouragement. Over 1,500 bags were collected along with hundreds of other donations for the women’s shelter.
DuBois continues to serve his community by organizing mental wellness panels, with hopes to continue normalizing the conversation surrounding mental wellness and spreading awareness.
